Athletics Championship for prizes of Yelena Isinbayeva
The first open athletics championship for the prizes of Yelena Isinbayeva took place on May 27-28. Among the guests who participated in the opening ceremony were vice chairman of the International Association of Athletics Federations Lord Sebastian Coe, head of the Central Sports Army Club Colonel Mikhail Barishev, managing director of distressed assets of the ‘Rostec’ State Corporation Aleksandr Nazarov and the host of the competition, a two-time Olympic gold medallist, President of the Charity foundation Yelena Isinbayeva.
More than 500 participants aged 12-13 years old from the Volgograd region, Moscow region, the cities of Chelyabinsk, Saratov, Kazan, Yaroslavl and others took part in the competition. The age limit for jumping was higher and only athletes born in 2000-2001 were accepted for this event.
The Olympic champions Tatiana Lebedeva and Yelena Slesarenko, honoured coaches of Russia Yevgeniy and Tamara Trofimov came to support the championship. The participants of the event had the possibility to take photos with the guests and take their autographs. The winners were awarded with diplomas, medals and gift cards.
The Charity fund thanks everyone who has helped to organize this sports event, especially Governor of the Volgograd region Andrei Bocharov, the CSAC administration, the ‘Rostec’ State Corporation, Volgograd region department of the Russian Ministry of Interior and particularly Lieutenant General of Police Aleksandr Kravchenko, Head of Volgograd, member of the fund’s guardian council Andrei Kosolapov and ‘Volgograd neotlozhka’ ( private emergency medical service).
